HISTORY
The inception of our organization traces back to the founding of the Second Saturday event approximately two decades ago. Spearheaded by influential community figures such as the late George Perkins Sr., Wilbert Dangerfield, and Dr. Garrett, this initiative operated under the Tangipahoa Parish Heritage Center, now recognized as the African American Heritage Museum and Veterans Archives. The aim was to instigate positive change within the community by hosting informative sessions with officials, facilitating donations, and fostering community involvement. This initiative culminated in the establishment of the Second Saturday Breakfast, a monthly gathering promoting community engagement and progress.

WHAT WE DO
We collaborate with homes and community centers to offer counseling, mentoring, and enriching activities to disadvantaged youth aged 12-17, equipping them with essential life skills for success. Moreover, we engage with young adults aged 18 to 40, providing them with information on available opportunities and resources while assisting them in pursuing education, training, and improved employment prospects to realize their aspirations. Additionally, we extend our support to elderly individuals, senior citizens, and those with disabilities, ensuring they are informed about and connected to the array of programs and services available to them. Through home visits and organized activities, we strive to provide companionship, support, and appreciation, enriching their lives and fostering peace of mind and spirit.
